Sekelani S. Banda is associate professor of medical education and clinical anatomy. He is qualified in medicine, medical education, clinical anatomy and global health. He is a Fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), and of International Fellowships in Medical Education of the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (IFME-ECFMG). Additionally, has had formal training in leadership, project management and finance for non-finance executives. He has close to 20 years wide-ranging experience in academia, medical practice and consulting for health-sector and health professions education programmes. At present he is employed by the University of Zambia as medical educationist and clinical anatomist. He also serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Medical Education & Assessment Research Group (ME-ARG), and the Clinical Anatomy Practice and Teaching Research Group (CAPT-RG).

  • He is also the Principal Consultant for the Skills Development – Capacity Building Project in Scholarship and Professionalism (DMED-Elective Courses). Prof. Banda has supervised and run courses for PhD, Masters, and undergraduate students for over 10 years.Professor Banda is former Deputy Vice Chancellor and Founding Dean of School of Medicine for Cavendish University Zambia; Head of Department – Department of Medical Education Development (2001-2010); Assistant Dean at School of Medicine (1997-2000; 2005-2007) at the University of Zambia. He also served as the founding President of Foundation 50 Academic Society (Registered with the University of Zambia and the Registrar of Societies).
