DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES:

Departmental Activities

(1)   For a better outcome in patient management ,clinical training and research activities the department is arranged in 5 teams (firms) each with 2 consultants, senior registrars, MMeds and interns.  Plans are afoot to establish With sub-specialization in  gynaecological oncology, urogynaecology,  maternal fetal medicine, and infertility/reproductive health.

(2)   The department runs the four year Master in Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Entry requirements for candidates to enrol into the M.Med. in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Programme are as follows:

  • Be a holder of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) Degree or its equivalent.
  • Have completed 18 months of internship with successful rotations in all the four major clinical disciplines (internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and general surgery).
  • Be in good standing and with full registration status with the Medical Council of Zambia (MCZ) or similar professional registration status within the country of immediate previous practice.

The programme ensures that the graduate is better placed to support the empowerment of a vulnerable group – women – and undertake an effort to reduce the burden of female disease and maternal death.
